Soccer clinics are specialized in teaching children the fundamentals of soccer and teamwork through instructions from experienced and professional coaching staff. Also known as soccer academies, soccer clinics are simply perfect for kids who love soccer regardless of their soccer skills, making them great for beginners who aren’t as confident in their sports of choice yet.
The main objective of soccer clinics are to provide athletes with access to a professional coaching staff who have years of experience. This allows players to learn new techniques, such as foot skills, soccer ball control, dribbling, etc, and progress their skills to the next level.
This is a free event hosted by the Sullivan County Soccer Association Program (SCOSA) but pre-registration is required. The soccer clinic is open to children ages 3-12.
The soccer clinic will take place at the Warriors’ Path State Park Soccer Fields.
SCOSA SOCCER CLINIC RULES:
- Players must wear shin guards to be on the fields. Socks need to be over the shin guards and please be sure to get soccer cleats (not football or baseball).
- Please write your child’s name on his/her soccer ball with a permanent marker before the first practice. Make sure to leave practice with your ball as we have seen a lot of balls left behind on previous seasons.
- Please be sure and bring your child water. Please help us keep the children from hanging on or climbing on the goals/nets and fence as it is very dangerous!
- Lost and found: Post to our Facebook page or turn the item(s) to Coach Julian.
- Please PICK UP any trash at the fields as you leave. There are trash cans place at every exit of the fields.
- Please help us in teaching the kids good sportsmanship. They tend to take cues from the adults, so keep in mind that they watch our behavior more than we realize. Please refrain from yelling at the coaches as they are trying to coach the kids.
- NO SMOKING near the playing fields. This includes the entire area used for soccer. If you smoke, we ask you to respect others and go outside of the fence.
- NO PETS. Some children may get scared or allergic to them. We respectfully ask not to bring them unless necessary. We would ask then to make sure you pick up your dog’s doo and dispose of it appropriately.
- Please respect all the rules at the State Park. Including speed limits and parking rules. Be mindful of others.
